How do you keep your family active?

I encourage my kids to do at least 1 sport per season. In fall and spring, that's soccer for us, and basketball gets us through the winter. It's not a ton, but it's better than nothing. They are at the ages where they now have 1-2 practices per week, plus their weekly game. I think that's great! I don't push an organized sport in the summer, but I do see to it that we get to the pool daily (or close to it), take walks, bike rides etc.

Another thing I do to help them burn energy when they can't go out and play...I keep a basket of active toys in the house. They can pull out a jumprope, basketball (for dribbling tricks-no shooting), ankle jumper, etc. anytime and get going. If they complain of being bored, I might say, "Let me see you do 30 hops with the jumprope." They always end up doing way more than what I've asked for.

How do you encourage physical activity for your kids? Please share your ideas!
